2. Materials: We choose the materials for the reception desk. Hardwoods like oak, maple, or cherry are a good choice for durability and a high-quality finish. MDF or plywood can also be used if cost is a concern. Be sure to also purchase any necessary hardware such as screws, nails, and wood glue.
3. Cutting: We cut the wood for the reception desk to the appropriate dimensions, using a saw and a straight edge. Be sure to measure twice and cut once to ensure accuracy.
4. Assembly: We assemble the reception desk by attaching the legs to the top, and attaching any drawers or shelves that are part of the design. Use wood glue and nails or screws to hold the pieces together. Be sure to clamp the pieces together while the glue dries to ensure a tight bond.
5. Sanding: We sand the entire reception desk to smooth out any rough edges and surfaces. Start with a rough grit sandpaper and work your way up to a fine grit.
6. Staining/Finishing: Apply a finish to the reception desk, such as a stain or polyurethane. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and apply multiple coats, sanding between each coat, to achieve a smooth and even finish.
7. Installation: Once the finish is dry, install the reception desk in the salon. Be sure to level the desk and secure it to the wall if necessary.
